1825 Art Studio

The last remaining original building on a family farm, this 14x20 frame was built in 1825, making it an extremely early building for the area. Working with a local building mover, the frame was stabilized and moved about 200’ to a new site on the property and set on a new foundation. From there, we stripped the frame and performed structural and period appropriate timber repairs. The frame was then insulated, sided, and received a new standing seam roof. As much original material as possible was reused, and much of the interior trim was maple, ash, and beech, (first growth!) salvaged from the building. We tried as hard as we could to preserve the integrity and authenticity of the building, as well as honor the skill and rural craftsmanship that built this place.
